TechPilot is the successful implementation of an award-winning idea to create a web-based marketplace for parts as per drawing. The core of the system is a supplier database with almost 50,000 supplier addresses, mainly from the metal and synthetics processing industries. What is remarkable about this database is its detailed representation of manufacturing skills and capacities. The efficiency of the marketplace is ensured by means of an intelligent search routine in the selection of potential business partners: on TechPilot, the address search is carried out based on needs by entering material specifications, processing technology, workpiece dimensions and quantities required. The search mechanism then compares these entries with the machine data in the database and guarantees a level of precision unequalled elsewhere.
Purchasers from all areas of industry carry out searches on the marketplace using the simplest of routines and place specific RFQs. The extensive and constantly updated database and the efficient search mechanism allow even extremely short-term or complex needs to be successfully addressed. In the German-speaking region alone, purchasers from well over 1,000 well-known companies make use of the marketplace. The order volume deriving from the system is in the three-digit millions.
For supplier companies, TechPilot provides a prospecting platform which provides highly detailed company profiles. This means that each company listed has a unique positioning. Further differentiation from the competition is possible through company presentation in the short profile: the result is a significant increase in specific RFQs from purchasers with concrete needs.
