CGS Srl is able to realize precision components with diameter between 3 and 70 mm; the worked materials embrace the whole range of the automatic steels,from reclamation, cementation and good part of the stainless further to brass, aluminium, bronze, copper and plastic materials. Finishing works CGS also has a specialized department in the following stages of finishing: - Reaming, Tumbling, Milling with No 2 vertical machining centers, Lapping, Countersink, Deburring, Surface rolling, Assembling with the possible management of commercial components or supplied by the customer, Micropunting Marking. Grinding processes The department designated about grinding works performs the following manufacturings: - Centerless and Plunge grinding with tolerance of 3-5 microns and roundness of 50% tolerance - Grinding on centers, surfaces, centerless and superfinishings where tolerances are outside of what we can obtain internally. CGS guarantees accurate control of the quality of the works implemented, and therefore of the finished detail delivered to the customer. Washing the parts with ultrasonic and vacuum technology - For all the details that need to treated, they are washed at the CGS production department, before starting the external treatment required to obtain the best result in terms of quality and efficacy of the treatment itself; - All untreated ferrous items are delivered after a suitable washing phase during which a protective substance is applied, with a guaranteed 3-month standard length, which can be extended on request.

In 1991, after completing the construction of a modern industrial factory having a covered space of 600 m2, the operative unit is moved to Via dell’Artigianato 3, still in Esino Lario, with its six employees and its machinery wholly converted to CNC technology. In 2002 the factory is enlarged by acquiring the adjacent factory, and reaches a covered space of 1000 m2. In the same year ISO 9001 quality certification is achieved. In 2004 the founder partners retire definitively and the company management is taken over by their son Giovanni Viglienghi, current majority partner, who had already joined the company in 2002, and their daughter, Cristina Viglienghi. A new expansion phase begins, labour force totals 15 employees with a clearer differentiation of company functions, the machinery is renewed and enhanced, the company opens to foreign markets, EU and Extra-EU. In 2014 the company is transformed from a partnership into a limited liability company and the works for building new administrative premises and redefining internal spaces are started. Today the company has 25 employees and is extended over a 2000 m2 area of which 1400 m2 are covered: 1100 for manufacturing, 200 for raw material storage and 100 as administrative offices.     C. Melchers & Co. was established on January 1, 1806 in Bremen, where the global company still maintains its headquarters to this very day. In the first few decades of the company’s history, over 30 ships sailed the oceans of the world under the Melchers flag, linking the ports of Europe, America and the Pacific. In the 1860s, C. Melchers & Co set up operations in Asia, where all its trading interests swiftly moved. At the same time, with the onset of steam ships, it abandoned its own shipping business to devote itself entirely to extending its trading operations. 1866 saw the establishment of the first branch in Hong Kong, in the wake of which China began to develop into a key lynchpin for the company’s business. The ensuing decades were a period of rapid growth for Melchers in China, with over 2,000 people employed at 12 branches and plants throughout the country. The First World War proved to be a setback for business relations, although business quickly recovered. Even so, the company continued to survive, re-opening its first branches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in the early fifties and gradually extending its branch network across Asia. Following the opening of the Chinese markets at the end of the seventies, Melchers set up branches here again, underscoring the significance of Chinese business for the company. With the establishment of a branch in San Francisco in the early eighties, the company also started to engage in US-Asian trade so as to gain a share of the rapidly growing trading relations between these two regions. Trade with China remains a key focus of the company’s overall business, comprising as it does imports of special natural products and finished goods on the one hand and exports of plant, machinery and supplies for the Asian industry on the other. Yet, business with South East Asia has since also come to the fore, with the company amassing broad-based expertise in marketing and selling consumer goods in particular. There are special departments for each article group in Bremen as well as at the foreign branches. They work largely independently within the overall company and are staffed by highly qualified experts. Over 1,000 employees in Germany and abroad assist customers and suppliers with their specialist knowledge. Rather than being based at the company’s headquarters, most of these employees are now stationed at subsidiaries, something which in turn reflects the company’s further development and the strategic alliances which it has forged.
