In the first few decades of the company’s history, over 30 ships sailed the oceans of the world under the Melchers flag, linking the ports of Europe, America and the Pacific. In the 1860s, C. Melchers & Co set up operations in Asia, where all its trading interests swiftly moved. At the same time, with the onset of steam ships, it abandoned its own shipping business to devote itself entirely to extending its trading operations. 1866 saw the establishment of the first branch in Hong Kong, in the wake of which China began to develop into a key lynchpin for the company’s business. The ensuing decades were a period of rapid growth for Melchers in China, with over 2,000 people employed at 12 branches and plants throughout the country. The First World War proved to be a setback for business relations, although business quickly recovered. It was not until the end of the Second World War in 1945 that business came to an almost complete halt. Even so, the company continued to survive, re-opening its first branches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in the early fifties and gradually extending its branch network across Asia. Following the opening of the Chinese markets at the end of the seventies, Melchers set up branches here again, underscoring the significance of Chinese business for the company. With the establishment of a branch in San Francisco in the early eighties, the company also started to engage in US-Asian trade so as to gain a share of the rapidly growing trading relations between these two regions. Trade with China remains a key focus of the company’s overall business, comprising as it does imports of special natural products and finished goods on the one hand and exports of plant, machinery and supplies for the Asian industry on the other. Yet, business with South East Asia has since also come to the fore, with the company amassing broad-based expertise in marketing and selling consumer goods in particular. There are special departments for each article group in Bremen as well as at the foreign branches. They work largely independently within the overall company and are staffed by highly qualified experts. Over 1,000 employees in Germany and abroad assist customers and suppliers with their specialist knowledge. Rather than being based at the company’s headquarters, most of these employees are now stationed at subsidiaries, something which in turn reflects the company’s further development and the strategic alliances which it has forged.

    With over 200 employees, we manufacture at our sites in ice rink, Schönbrunn and Apolda for our customers turned parts from a workpiece diameter of 0.2 mm to 250mm, threaded rods and assemblies on the most modern CNC lathes, machining centers and multi-spindle automatic lathes. It processes material from 0.5 mm to 65 mm diameter of the rod and 240 mm diameter chuck parts from almost all machinable materials (cutting steels, structural steels, case hardening steels, rust and acid resistant steel, V2A, V4A, titanium, brass, ECOBRASS, aluminum , plastics, and any other machinable materials) The production scope includes threaded rods to M42 or trapezoidal thread with a pitch to 6 mm up to 6000 mm length, gears (for steel to module 0.8 and brass to Module1). In separate manufacturing areas, we have created the ability to perform additional operations such as drilling, milling and sawing, bending, punching, pressing, broaching, welding, soldering, thread rolling and thread cutting and assembly work. Heat treatments and surface finishing are carried out in cooperation with selected expert partners.     “To modify parts withdrawn from mass production to customer-specific requirements in order to offer the company the opportunity to deliver customer-oriented goods. ” With this idea, Mike Weinbrenner founded the company MW-Industrieservice Präzisionsdrehen in 1996 in his local garage in Weitefeld. Due to a rapidly growing volume of orders, Weinbrenner changed its location in 2003 to its own production hall in Elkenroth. Here, the company also specialized in precision turning. “We produce small, small and large batches of precision parts and we support companies with manufacturing, manufacturing processes and assembly. ” Thanks to the optimal use of 7 to 10-axis controlled CNC lathes and a short turner with bar loading magazines and high-quality tools, we are able to produce parts made of stainless steel, free-cutting steel, brass, copper, aluminum, plastic and special materials. The turned parts are in the diameter range of 2 to 42 mm. Within this area, we also supply parts made of hexagonal and square material. The length of the turned part can be up to 900 mm. Through transverse processing, the workpieces can also be produced with desired thread types, cross holes, grooves and milling surfaces. On request, your turned parts can be laser marked or machined on our CNC engraving machine. The precision parts are separated from the coolant oil by the cleaning system so that the workpieces are delivered oil-free. Through the use of tooling devices and carefully thought-out production processes, our team is able to deliver quality and timely work. The quality is also checked on our optical measuring devices. 100% testing is possible upon customer request. Individual processing of the manufactured parts, such as grinding, galvanizing, chroming and hardening, is carried out by our experienced suppliers and can be delivered with a test report on request. Combining, assembling and completing elements to form an assembly is also possible. Basically, our goal is to open up to new manufacturing processes so that we can always offer precision work.
