It is deliberately produced to 100% in Germany - we prove to our customers that
we are competitive with quality, delivery and cost.

Company History:
1965, shortly after his master's examination, the present owner and manager Manfred Kappes became self-employed and dropped two apprentices the foundation for the Kappes Maschinenbau GmbH and the metal casting GmbH in Pfaffhausen / Bavaria and Alko cast aluminum GmbH in drive / Thuringia.
Now, in these three companies employs about 100 people and shed more than 500 tonnes of aluminum a year. This exclusively as gravity die in gravity die at a weight from 0.003 to 45 Kg

The most common alloys are Al Si 7 Mg (wa), Al Si 9 Mg (wa), Al Si 11 Mg (wa), Zn Al 10 Si 8 Mg, Al, Si and Al 12 Si 8 Cu 3

A powerful tool manufacturing with advanced 3D - CAD / CAM system and CNC machines and EDM is able to implement the short-term customer needs.

With 24 CNC - lathes and machining centers to process the Alugussteile in shifts finished. The high level of customer satisfaction in terms of quality and reliability make us confident to survive the challenges ahead.
Many of our customers now use the offer to bring our experience in the development of new castings.
We maintain, now 2600 products for our customers and deliver 10% to other European countries.Our clientele include the engineering, sun protection technology, Elektronikbau, vehicle and vehicle bodies, construction, air gun manufacturers, the German Federal Railways, facade, ladders and scaffolding manufacturer, drying plant manufacturers, car wash builders, equipment manufacturers and many more.

Tooling / Kokillenbau:
The duration of the form that the mold is made of steel or cast iron. Undercuts can be formed with trains, loose parts or sand cores. The sand cores are destroyed after casting.
Of course, composite casting is that doable with cast steel parts or threaded brass bushes.
Before casting, the molds are sized, that is, provided with a layer of clay, carbon black or the like. Compared to sand casting, the cooling rates in gravity casting due to the higher thermal conductivity of cast iron against sand are significantly higher. This results in a relatively fine-grained and dense structure, the better mechanical properties than sand cast from the same aluminum alloy.

Foundry:
Permanent mold casting is poured by hand, usually with the aid of hydraulic cylinders, the mold
opened. The caster takes the part, includes the shape and pours again.
