    C. Melchers & Co. was established on January 1, 1806 in Bremen, where the global company still maintains its headquarters to this very day. In the first few decades of the company’s history, over 30 ships sailed the oceans of the world under the Melchers flag, linking the ports of Europe, America and the Pacific. In the 1860s, C. Melchers & Co set up operations in Asia, where all its trading interests swiftly moved. At the same time, with the onset of steam ships, it abandoned its own shipping business to devote itself entirely to extending its trading operations. 1866 saw the establishment of the first branch in Hong Kong, in the wake of which China began to develop into a key lynchpin for the company’s business. The ensuing decades were a period of rapid growth for Melchers in China, with over 2,000 people employed at 12 branches and plants throughout the country. The First World War proved to be a setback for business relations, although business quickly recovered. It was not until the end of the Second World War in 1945 that business came to an almost complete halt. There are special departments for each article group in Bremen as well as at the foreign branches.     A brief introduction We employ metal machinists, a shortage occupation in metal industry nowadays, who produce small series of special parts on traditional machines. In this sector CNC machines are so widely used that there is a shortage of traditional machines and excess demand exists for them. With this in mind, we will purchase several traditional machines during our current developments to increase our capacity in this field. We, of course, have CNC machines as well and develop our machine pool regularly. Based on the orders received, we are able to draw up a production program for 1 month in advance and allocate our resources. Our customers basically include producers which manufacture special purpose machines for their customers (e.g. manufacturers in printing industry, shipyards, industrial scale manufacturers, food producers, automotive industry, manufacturers of medical equipment), and we produce components needed for these machines. BAT tobacco factory is included among our customers, and we manufacture wear/consumable parts required for their daily production. We produce components and subassemblies for medical equipment manufactured by Siemens and GE factories. Besides, we supply units for robotic production lines of AUDI and VW factories. The company had its first premises at the residence of the founders in Pécs. Production took place in a small workshop. At the beginning temporary workers were working in addition to a single permanent worker. The first orders we received involved simple processing of materials. In addition to manufacturing new products, we undertook and still undertake to carry out repair works. We undertook all works therefore outgrew the small workshop we used at the beginning, and in 2007 at Pécs-Hird we acquired our first production hall suitable for carrying out industrial activities with a floor space of approximately 250 m2. Here we were able to carry out production on a larger scale and serve more customers. Owing to our continuous progress and current developments, now the floor area of the production hall exceeds 1000 m2.     Officine Parolin is located on the North East of Italy. We employ 18 people and are specialised in the wire, tube, and stamped sheet processing. Our core business has been the welding since 1985. We mainly work on projects and drawings supplied by the customer. Our flexibility enables us to offer many sorts of customised products: from furniture, sport equipment, up to lightweight construction. We work the following metals: Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium. The cooperation with local partners grants us to supply the following services: painting, galvanising, sating, anodising and other surface treatments, laser cutting on sheets and tubes.
